Styled Shoot: Red and Aqua Wedding Inspiration

This newlywed couple wanted some extra fun images after their wedding day, so they called Jeray and Kim Weddings to capture some lovely moments together. This fun inspiration shoot features stylist Collette Budd and makeup artist Martha Davenporte. The red and aqua details provide a colorful contrast to one another, and those desserts look simply delicious! We just love the natural outdoor setting and all the rustic details incorporated into this shoot. We hope you enjoy the summery vintage-inspired styling as much as we did!

Events and Parties: Annabelle’s Strawberry Birthday

Birthdays are always a great opportunity to get creative with different themes and ideas, and this party is no exception! From the mom who is also the event designer, Sara at The Homespun Hostess told us about the inspiration behind her daughter’s strawberry themed birthday party! “Way back in early February my sweet little Annabelle got a new Strawberry tutu from Gymboree. As soon as she got it she told me she wanted to have a strawberry party so she could wear it for the party, and so the planning for her May birthday began! I knew in my head I wanted the style to be vintage strawberry, homespun and farm chic all wrapped into one! I used red gingham, fun polka dots and accented with a bit of retro aqua.” Maggie Russo Photo captured every charming detail, including the birthday girl herself, at this adorable affair!

The food table had more of a “farm chic” rustic look with vintage popcorn bags, wrapped sandwiches tied with yarn and custom tags, mini homemade strawberry pies, individual strawberry spinach and dill potato salads and red lunch bags of chips. I love the pop of aqua against the red; it adds that little bit of retro charm that I love.” With all that yummy food, we can tell that even the adults would enjoy this kid’s birthday party. From the red ribbons to the polka dot straws, we just love all the creative yet simple touches that were incorporated into every aspect of this event! milk bottles, red and white, gingham, pinkbirthday party, red details, cake, snacksoutdoors, picnic table, red, flowersoutdoors, red, birthday partybirthday party, strawberry, red, outdoorsoutdoors, purple, red, strawberry theme, flowersred, strawberry, aqua, blue, outdoors, birthday girlstrawberry, red, white, outdoors, Indianared, outdoors, mother, daughter, birthdayThank you to Maggie Russo Photo for sharing this fun and festive birthday party with us!

First Birthday Party: Alice in Wonderland

Tampa wedding and portrait photographer, Andi Diamond Photography, was thrilled and inspired to photograph Kenady’s vintage Alice in Wonderland themed first birthday party. Andi photographed Kenady’s parents’ engagement session, their wedding, and Kenady’s first year, so this party was a special milestone for not only the family, but also the photographer! Having planned the party for months, the decor and details were extremely well thought out. Kenady’s grandmother, owner of D’s Darling Designs, a couture children’s clothing company, created all of the DIY elements from table tops, teacup centerpieces, and custom invitations.

Of course, no 1 year old birthday is complete without couture cupcakes and a tea-cup shaped designer cake, and matching smash cake by Gia’s Cakes and Goodies! While Kenady was not too fond of her smash cake, everyone else enjoyed the sweets and dessert bar at this backyard celebration.

Styled Shoot: Once Upon a Time

Earlier this week we featured a fabulous fairy tale wedding, perfect for any bride dreaming of being a princess on her wedding day. Today we have another take on the royal wedding to inspire our Cinderella brides! Rachel Peters Photography shared this “Once Upon a Time” themed styled shoot, which was put together to celebrate the arrival of William and Kate to Prince Edward Island! The team put together an English-themed affair with regal silhouettes, whimsical place settings, and of course, plenty of antique clocks! The Woodleigh Replica, located in Burlington, Prince Edward Island, was the perfect castle background for this shoot. We love how the styling takes the idea of a royal wedding and adds a bit of local flair for charming and timeless inspiration.

Thanks to Rachel Peters Photography and a fabulous team of Prince Edward Island vendors for sharing this styled shoot with us!

Bridal Shoot: Whirlwind Romance

When Mulberry Lane Studio shared these *gorgeous* bridal portraits, and told us that bride Lindsay met her beau Brad in a “whirlwind romance,” we just had to hear the details!  Lindsey and Brad met in November of 2010, and after eight months of travel and adventure, the couple knew they were meant to  be together forever.  Brad popped the question at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, where Linsdey later returned with her photographer for a pre-wedding photo shoot! Here’s what Lindsey had to say about their romance:

“Brad and I have definitely had a ‘sweep you off your feet’ type of romance! We met through friends in November of 2010 with our first date in January 2011. Our first date quickly turned into our second, and we have been inseparable ever since! On our second date, I was Brad’s date to an Indian wedding in NYC, which is where we quickly knew we wanted to be together forever. It was a weekend I will never forget!”

“Brad lived in Houston and I lived in Dallas at the time (it’s too funny that now Brad always says he “imported me” from Dallas. Ha!) Many of our first weekends together were all over the map. We went to Corpus Christi for a Valentine’s Day wine tasting, San Francisco and Napa Valley for a fun getaway weekend with friends.  We had Rodeo’s in Houston, and of course spent time in Dallas! Our excitement quickly turned into love, and we knew that we wanted to be together forever. We quickly realized that our core values were the same: family, faith, and passion.  At the end of the day, what brought us together and continues to bring us closer together are these three things.”

Brad and Lindsey planned a destination wedding in Peninsula Papagayo, in Costa Rica. They hoped to capture the adventure of their romance with an exciting affair– golf, spa days, fishing, and even zip lining on their honeymoon!  Most importantly, it would be a chance to celebrate their deep friendship and love– ” I can’t wait to marry Brad. He’s my best friend and genuinely the most amazing man I know.”

Thanks to Mulberry Lane Studio for sharing this submission, and to Lindsey for sharing her story with us!

Styled Shoot: Water for Elephants meets A Rustic Barn

Water for Elephants is an exciting story of a young lad who finds his way to a traveling circus, falls in love with a beautiful blonde, and in the end rescues her and spends the rest of his life together with her. Randi Marie Photography and Blue Door Creative teamed up to create a wedding that would be a lovely replication of this amazing book. Author Sara Gruen offers visual aids throughout the pages of her book that helped this creative team gather ideas to incorporate into this styled shoot. With warm tones and a rustic feel, what started as a mere idea turned out to be an amazing wedding brought about from the past: “Water For Elephants meets A Rustic Barn.” Brides need ideas outside the blank ballroom to make their wedding one of a kind. What better of a way to do it than to create a wedding perfect for the vintage rustic bride?

Randi of Randi Marie Photography told us “We wanted to build this styled shoot to help give brides outside-the-box ideas for a fabulous wedding. Our amazing bakers, Juliana with Three Point One Four Pies and Megan with Eat Sweets Pastry, teamed up to make delicious treats and the yummiest goods. The fabulous Print Your Party did our custom paper goods. We gave her an idea and she turned it in to a dream come true. Sew In Love created the perfect dress for our bride. The florist took our idea and turned it in to a dream. Stemming from the very vintage past, we wanted to incorporate a hairpiece that would really compliment the style of our shoot along with our bride’s personality. Kira, a fun and outgoing lady, was more then happy to be our model. For the name of love, that girl would be up for anything! Daniel, a handsome fella with the sweetest personality, made the perfect groom with his gentle personality and striking good looks.”caramel apples, cranberries, redstyled shoot, water for elephants, rustic, pie, cookies, cupcakeswedding, styled shoot, water for elephants, pink, foodfood, paper products, flowers, tablescapewater for elephants, rustic barn, outdoorsbarn, groom, bride, black and white, vintageThank you to Randi Marie Photography for submitting this rustic styled shoot via Two Bright Lights!

Styled Shoots: Family Heirlooms and Harvest Gold

The holidays are over, but family remains the center of this  elegant styled shoot from Amanda Dorian Photography! Located at a Morais Vineyard, a rustic, family-owened vineyard in Bealeton, Virginia, this shoot aimed to capture the importance of family with precious antiques and family heirlooms.  Many of the details in the event belonged to the family of the event designer, Tracie of Setting the Mood. Incorporating family heirlooms (or even those new Christmas gifts from close family and friends) can be a perfect, sentimental touch to a wedding!  Family momentos can make perfect table markers or centerpieces, while heirloom jewelry for the bride can be the perfect way to keep her family close on her wedding day.

In addition to momentos like family photos and a memory board guest book (with places for guests to pin favorite memories,) this shoot mixed precious trinkets with harvest colors (like the model’s incredible gold gown) and decadent treats from A Taste of Elegance and Fat Girl Cakes.  The harvest theme works perfectly with the vineyard venue and the incredible family details.  Thanks to Amanda Dorian Photography for inspiring us with this fabulous mix of rustic elegance and antique, family charm!
