Engagement: A Country Boy and Girl At Heart

Acting as the backdrop for this love story between a country boy and girl, this picturesque, quaint equestrian center strikes a great southern cord with the couple. Danielle Aquiline Photography and the happy, engaged couple headed to the fields of Illinois to meet up with their beloved horse and dog at the Frankfort Equestrian Center, a place that Dana called her “second home.” Through the outdoor engagement shoot, the couple got a unique chance to celebrate their communal interest in the country and farm life. Eric grew up in Northwest Indiana in an old farm house, while Dana was involved in equestrian competitions her whole life, so it was a perfect way to express how they were (and still are) a country boy and girl at heart.

A couple of extra details helped to complete the southern ranch feel of this engagement shoot, such as Dana’s cowboy boots, the beer the couple shared, the rusty tractor, and more. But the best detail in the photo shoot has to be the bright, engagement ring on Dana’s left hand!

Thanks to Danielle Aquiline Photography for showing us a way to celebrate an engaged couple’s shared love of the rustic outdoors and their animal companions, complete with a certain southern flair.

Location: Frankfort Equestrian Center

Good for the Soul: A Walk in the Park with Your Best Furry Friends

At Two Bright Lights, we celebrate all of our loved ones, from our life partners, to our brothers and sisters, to our newborns – so there is no way we could leave out our best friends! This outdoor-loving couple from Nederland, Colorado took their three beautiful companions out for a woodsy Fall shoot to celebrate their loyal pet pals. These lovable dogs couldn’t have been happier strolling the mountain trails and indulging in fetch adventures by the local river. We just love their playful personalities and the way Susannah Storch Photography captured their sweet nature. Thanks for reminding us to show a little appreciation for our furry friends!

Although Orphan Annie might say, “I Love You Tomorrow”, we know you are going to fall in love with this Annie as soon as you stare into her puppy dog eyes! Annie is a Goldendoodle, a cross between a Golden Retriever and Poodle, who was given as a gift from a mother to her daughter. Ariane Moshayedi Photography documented Annie’s homecoming by capturing her sweet puppy personality on camera. Sunday Feature: Spirit Wind Horse Rescue

Last month we showed how Two Bright Lights photographer Catlin Humes  uses her photography  to help dogs and cats in animal shelters find homes.  Today we’re excited to share how another of our photographers, Vendla of Vendla Stockdale Photography, is doing good for animals in need.  After encountering two neglected horses at a sale barn in 2006, Vendla co-founded an organization called Spirit Wind Horse Rescue to give horses who have been abused, neglected, or in danger of slaughter a second chance at life.  Since then, the organization has developed into a thriving non-profit with over 30 volunteers, 16 foster homes, and dedicated trainers determined to treat each horse with respect and love. In her photography, Vendla shows the beauty and spirit of these  amazing horses, and makes a statement against branding and abuse.

Thanks to Vendla for sharing these powerful images with us!

Pets: Happiness is a Warm Puppy

The holiday season has officially begun, and chances are someone you know has a four-legged friend on their wish list! After a hectic Black Friday weekend, Catlin Humes of C. Humes Photography reminds of the true spirit of the season with this photo session from the Madison County Humane Society. It’s been proven that having beautiful pictures of shelter animals can help them to find homes more quickly, so Catlin volunteers her time to photograph the animals in hopes that they will be adopted. So far it’s worked– some of the animals have already found homes! We love to see Two Bright Lights photographers using their talent to help others. So if you’re thinking of adding a pet to your family this year, remember that there are beautiful animals just like these waiting across the country for a new home.

Thanks to Catlin for sharing this adorable photos with us, and for sharing her time for a wonderful cause. If you’re interested in adopting one of these dogs or cats, visit the Madison County Humane Society website here.

Feline Friday: Curl up with Mocha

As wedding editors, we’ve had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of beautiful couples in your wedding submissions– but only since Two Bright Lights and Done Brilliantly expanded to include new categories were we able to see a model this handsome!  Meet Mocha, the shorthaired ragdoll and favorite model of Cecilia Flaming (who photographed Wednesday’s gorgeous British Columbia wedding). You can probably tell that Mocha’s a veteran in front of the camera; Cecilia often uses him as a test model to try out a new lens or camera equipment.  Can you believe those blue eyes?!

Looks as though even this old pro can get a bit camera shy!

Thanks to Cecilia for sharing these adorable photos! If you have pet or wildlife photos, upload them to Two Bright Lights today and submit them to Done Brilliantly!
