Spoiler alert! If you’re one of the handful of people who haven’t read or seen The Hunger Games, look away from this post now (and go find yourself a copy!). If you are a fan of Suzanne Collins’ epic series, you’ll love this Hunger Games inspired engagement shoot from Elle Golden Photography! Photographer LeiLani Golden couldn’t bear not knowing what happened to the Girl on Fire and the Boy with the Bread after the Games had ended, so she put together this styled shoot, filled with bows and arrows, Mockingjay pins, and oodles of other details inspired by the books, to try out some new techniques and to inspire other fans. Read on to see how she put together this memorable–and surprisingly simple– Hunger Games shoot!

“After devouring the Hunger Games books, I couldn’t quit imagining what life was like for Katniss and Peeta after the games. We know where they ended up, but how did they get there? So I decided to bring their post-games love story to life with an engagement session! With only two weeks to plan the entire shoot, we didn’t have time for pro stylists. I used Pinterest to visualize ideas and Polyvore to create outfit collages. I gave Katniss and Peeta ‘everyday chic and ‘capitol glam’ looks. I did Katniss’s hair and makeup myself. The Save the Date was custom-designed by a friend of mine. I just printed out the digital file at OfficeMax!”
“Half the models’ clothes are from our own personal closets. and the handmade bow, arrows, and quiver are borrowed from a friend. The food is from a local grocery store, and the vases, candles, and tray are from a thrift shop! So it doesn’t take much to make your engagement session a little different. The odds are ever in your favor with a little imagination!”

This is so cute and creative! People will eat this up
Love it, LeiLani! You did a great job!
I love how resourceful she was! The little touches that reference the book really put it over the top. Love this shoot!
Thank you so much for featuring my work! We had so much fun shooting this session, even with all the crazy mosquitos flying around making a meal of us! I guess I can’t complain, it’s not like we had to watch our backs for killer tributes.
I also wanted to add another source, my little brother who played the part of Peeta so well, Phillip Eugene (find him on One Model Place).
LeiLani is amazingly creative and fierce. She has an undeniable sense of “go-get-em” and she’s not afraid to use it. Thank you for featuring such awesome talent! I love to see special people, like LeiLani, praised for hard work and dedication. <3 B.

Where do you think I can get those bracelets? They’re so awesome, and since I’m really into the Hunger Games I really want those.
