How do you make an engagement shoot stand out? Why not try using textures and patterns to set a shoot apart from the rest? These two engagement shoots from Athena Kalindi and Dorothy Gautreaux take advantage of the natural patterns, colors, and textures of the couple’s hometowns to create spectacular, unique engagement photos! Our first couple, Ashley and Enrique, will be married next August in a sweet back yard wedding, and they are also expecting their first baby in just a few months! Athena Kalindi captured the uniqueness of this couple by scoping out interesting locations around their California home. We love the way she used textures like the orange stucco wall, stonework, and vertical lines to frame this beautiful couple and to create memorable photographs.
Ashley and Garrett started inside for their intimate engagement shoot with Dorothy Gautreaux Photography, and boy does their location have drama! The striped, tiled columns, black and white textured booths, and transparent lights create so much visual interest (and work perfectly with the couple’s domino “Save the Date” idea!) When they moved outside for more photos, Dorothy chose a distressed wooden door and a leafy hedge to add texture and color to the background. We love how such simple details can add so much wow-factor to a shoot!
Thanks to Athena Kalindi and Dorothy Gautreaux for sharing these engagement shoots with us!
